Frequently asked questions

BIOS WORLD FAQ: buying files, credits and membership, downloads and view-only files, archive passwords, online task charges, passwords, devices, uploads and phones.

Buying and credits

How do I buy a file?

Sign up and log in to the member center, search “Resource” by model, board number or file name (e.g. LA-K881P, 820-00165, T480) and click “Buy”. During a membership period files are free (with a daily limit); otherwise each file costs 5 credits (a few files have their own price — the purchase dialog always shows it).

How do I get credits or membership time?

Enter a top-up card code on the “Top up” page of the member center. Credits or membership time are added at once and every change shows in “Credit history”.

How long can I use a file I bought?

During a membership period you can use every file you bought. Files bought with credits can be used for 365 days from the purchase; after that click “Renew” in “My schematics” (same price).

What can I download and what is view-only?

BIOS and firmware files can be downloaded. Boardviews, schematics and component-location files open in the online viewers only (with part search, nets and boardview ↔ schematic cross-linking); they cannot be downloaded.

Where is the password of an archive?

If an archive has a password, it is shown on its row in “My schematics” and on the download page — click to copy.

What happens to my credits if a file is deleted?

When a library file is removed for good, the credits you paid for it are refunded automatically. A message tells you your balance before and after, and the refund appears in “Credit history”.

Online tasks

How are online tasks charged?

You pay only when a task succeeds and you download the result: free during a membership period; trial members have a free daily quota; otherwise the credits shown on the task page. Failed or timed-out tasks cost nothing.

A task failed — what now?

Failed, timed-out or missing-file tasks can be edited and started again. If a task succeeded but the result is wrong, click “Report a problem” in the task details and tell us what is wrong.

Account and devices

I forgot my password

Click “Reset password” on the login page and enter your sign-up email. The email contains a temporary password; log in with it and set a new one.

What does “Keep me signed in” do?

If you tick it when logging in, this device stays signed in for 30 days even after closing the browser. Logging out or changing the password ends it. Do not tick it on shared computers.

Why is there a device limit?

Each account can be bound to at most 5 devices (computers and phones). “My devices” lists them and lets you unbind one yourself (5 times a month); a device not used for 60 days frees its slot automatically.

My files (uploads)

What can I put in “My files”?

Your own boardviews, schematics, component-location files and BIOS. Only you can see them, and they open in the same viewers as library files. If someone already uploaded the same file or the library has it, it is added instantly without uploading and without using your space. The space limit is shown on the page.

Phones

How do I use it on a phone?

Android phones can install the BIOS WORLD app; on iPhone / iPad open the member center in Safari and tap “Share → Add to Home Screen” — it then opens like an app. See the app page.
