Locked CPU / PCH board swap (Intel) (single + dual chip)
Intel CPUs / PCHs locked to their board do not boot on another board: move the boot key from the original BIOS too, with the ME merged automatically.
Use it (log in first)All online tools
What it fixes
- Locked CPUs from Dell, Lenovo (low-voltage and some standard), Google and others do not boot on another board
- A locked PCH moved to another board
How to use
- Log in → Online tools → choose “Locked CPU / PCH board swap”
- Upload the BIOS of the board receiving the CPU and of the board the CPU came from (both chips on dual-chip boards); each file name must contain its correct board number
- Enter both board numbers
- Download the generated BIOS and write it to the receiving board
What you need
An intact BIOS of each board (factory BIOS, vendor extract or a known-good dump of the same board number); both board numbers
Note:Neither board may be faulty because of the BIOS; both CPUs must have the same BGA package; Intel only. Moving between locked boards of the same board number does not need this tool. The generated file can be reused for the same combination later.
